Who We Are

Our Mission

Sojourn Chattanooga is a church in the Hill City neighborhood of North Chattanooga with a simple vision: to see God’s gospel bring Him fame everywhere – in our lives as we become more like Jesus and in the world as we go across the street and across the globe with the good news of the gospel. We’re on a mission together to Love Jesus, Cultivate Community, and Be Missionaries.

Our Pastors

Rusty McKie

Rusty’s role as lead pastor involves moving the mission of Sojourn forward. He has led in various ministries for over a decade. Both Rusty and his wife Rachel have a passion for loving people by connecting them to Jesus and each other. They are excited to call Chattanooga home.

Alex Baxley

Alex’s role as Director of Worship Arts involves helping people proclaim, hear, and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ during Sojourn’s weekly gatherings. He and his wife Emily both love to lead people in singing the gospel and are excited to dedicate themselves to this church and this city.

 Marc Loizeaux

Marc serves as a non-staff pastor in Sojourn, serving everywhere from pastoral care to overseeing various ministries.

What We Do

We Gather

Every Sunday morning, we gather together at our sanctuary to hear, proclaim, and respond to who God is and what He’s done. We’re a family, and our gatherings are casual, so come as you are! If you’re looking for a church home or are exploring Christianity for the first time, we’d be honored to have you as our guest this week.

Time

Sundays at 10AM EST

Place

817 N. Market St.
Chattanooga, TN 37405

We Scatter

During the week, we scatter into what we call Community Groups, whose purpose are to help us build true friendships that help us grow in our trust of God and each other. We form these friendships as we open up ourselves to each other and to God’s Word. Community Groups are also the main avenue through which we seek to love and serve our neighborhoods and our city. We’d love to have you join any one of our groups this week.

What We Believe

What we believe about Jesus – who He is, what He’s done, what He’s doing, and what He will one day do – stems from what He has revealed to us about Himself in the Bible. He is at the center of everything Scripture says. He is the Word of God in the flesh. And so Jesus Christ and His Gospel are at the center of everything we do and love. Kids

Mission

Sojourn Kids cares about leading our kids into a deeper understanding of the gospel. We seek to partner with parents to build a gospel-centered spiritual foundation in the lives of their children. We present age-appropriate material for children ranging in age from infant to 5th Grade. Children will explore God’s Word through learning activities and building friendships.

Keeping Your Children Safe

Safety is one of our highest priorities. We provide a safe and secure environment for your children to learn and grow. Volunteers serving with Sojourn Kids must complete a background check and receive training. Sojourn Kids volunteers are easily identified by the bright red balloon on their Sojourn Kids shirt.

During our Sunday Morning Service, parents check their kids into a secure kids area where only Sojourn Kids volunteers are allowed. Parents will have the opportunity to notify us of any allergies or special requests. When checking in to Sojourn Kids, children and their parents are issued a label with a unique identification code. Parents must present their label with a matching identification code in order to pick-up their child.

Give

God doesn’t need anything from us to accomplish His saving work in this world. Yet He saw fit to create for Himself a family called the Church, a family through whom He would do His gospel work in this world. Because He saved us out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son, God not only invites us but inspires and calls us to join in His generous gospel work of love and of grace. In God’s Kingdom, God’s people do as their King does – give and love joyfully and sacrificially for the sake of the gospel reaching every person. One of the ways we do this is through giving financially so that God’s church can continue to do the work God has called and equipped it to do. If you would like to give to Sojourn Chattanooga as a means of joining God’s generous gospel work, click the link below.
